For nearly 2 millennia the church has followed the teachings of Jesus and talks of a "dark lord" or evil that counters their teachings. The only evil is the manifestation of the church itself. In many Christian studies it is said that Jesus had supernatural powers of sorts and was a master teacher. The church talks of a revival or resurrection of Christ and this is often celebrated in Easter. The eggs represent reproduction and the rabbit is known for rapid reproduction, however any practice of this by worshipping the energies that emit from the ground has been frowned upon by the church. Through the centuries any child who exhibits a supernatural power has been ostracized by the church. The dark lord is born out of fear, and for centuries the church has tried to defeat this so called evil, but fear gives it power. Most likely, if a child had exhibited these powers either the church killed the person or casted him/her out forever.
Think of it like this, lets take identical twins where one is placed in the light and the other is placed in the dark. The one who is in the light we can see its facial figures and any other exposed skin and we see what it is, but the other in the dark we cannot see but the church can claim he is in the dark because he is hideous and we should not look at him. Any attempt to get a closer look at the twin in the dark has been foiled by the church claiming we must not see the image for our own sake. How do we really know what the other looks like? Should we depend on the word of the church to define his image? The twin in the shadow therefor is left in the dark. Christianity has perpetuated the cycle of hate, just like Islam. Neither side is less guilty, and both have led to the deaths of millions.
Here is my advice, when you tell someone that you serve the "dark lord" just remind them that you are following the teachings of Jesus according to their bible and the dark lord is actually the part of Jesus that the church wants to keep in the dark. The dark lord is not evil really, in fact the dark lord is what the church hides in the shadows to keep you from gaining any independence.
